Alex’s then and now

written by Alex Alex

I was born in Scarborough General on a nice day in December in the last year of the 70's. I went to primary school in Scarborough and when I was 11 we moved to a small town in Ontario.

A couple years later, i moved back to Toronto in the riverdale area and finished highschool. I was into studying hard, playing basketball, and making a little cash from the BK Lounge.

After highschool I worked at Internet Direct as a technical support representative and saved money for school. In 1999, I enrolled in Sheridan College's Computer Science Technology program and graduated in 2002. Those four years were all about working and studying non-stop.

I started my first co-op at Cundari in December 2000 and continue to work there as a Senior Web Developer.

Since 2003, i've been going to the gym, working out with free weights mostly, and cycling. I've managed to reach my powerlifting goals (bench press, shoulder press, deadlift and squats). One of the nice advantages from powerlifting is being able to lift Patty and carry her when she's tired of walking. I cycled to work every day, and probably cycled around 125 km every week. The other cardio exercise I did was running.

For leisurely enjoyment, my favourite tv shows are "Star Trek", "Highlander", and "Quantum Leap". "The Office" is hillarious, and "Dexter" is thrilling. I have great appreciation for the TV/Film industry. I like collecting TV shows as much as women like collecting shoes! I think all the hardwork that went into writing the scripts and the acting talent that went into acting out the story deserves the recognition and appreciation from the intended public. It would be a waste for the hours they spent to be wasted and forgotten.

Other than that, how did I meet Patty? Well, on one bright and sunny day, a friend of mine from highschool, William, called me out to see the Indy car race and that's when I met Patty.

I knew William since highschool, maybe since i was 14? We both were into computers, programming, BBS'ing, and even shared our first internet account! I think it was in 1995 that I got a 28.8kbps dialup account from Globalserve, and William and I shared that one for about 5$ a month. We also had some programming contests too.. LoLz.

On to the next chapter of life... getting married!!! :)
